ICME Awards Two Schlumberger Seed Grants

ICME has awarded seed grants to two Stanford faculty, as part of ICME's initiative for Research at the Intersection of Scientific Computing, Data Science, Machine Learning, and High Performance Computing.

This seed grant is supported by the Schlumberger Software Technology Innovation Center (STIC).

The two grant recipients are:

  • Stephen Boyd, Professor in Electrical Engineering, whose research aims to explore log-log convex functions and corresponding domain specific languages for formulating and solving optimization problems in a variety of applications.
  • Parviz Moin, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Founding Director of ICME, whose research aims to test the effectiveness of Reinforcement Learning in accelerating iterative solvers for the large-scale systems of equations.
