This workshop is designed to assist you in creating effective scientific posters by focusing on design, layout, and content. You will learn about the essential elements of a successful poster, from titles to clear organization, concise language, and compelling visuals. By the end of the workshop, you will have a comprehensive understanding of the following:
- Poster design principles
- Appropriate sections for a research poster
- Best practices for integrating concise language
- Understanding your audience
- Tips to avoid common pitfalls
About the Speaker:
Kelly A. Harrison is an instructor in the Technical Communication Program (TCP) in the School of Engineering at Stanford University. She teaches technical communication (ENGR 202W, ENGR/CEE 102W) and independent writing (ENGR 202S). Before academia, Kelly worked in the computer software industry, studied aviation, and trained as a pilot and aircraft mechanic. Currently, she also edits West Trade Review.
