Building Your Professional Future
ICME Career Services supports MS and PhD students in bridging the gap between academic research and professional success. We offer a variety of programs to help you advance your professional journey, including career events, workshops, seminar courses and company visits.
Industry Engagement & Opportunities
Connect with industry leaders through ICME's annual career fair, company presentations, research discussions and engaging networking activities. Key opportunities include the ICME Career Forum, ICME Research Symposium, Lunch & Learn sessions, and the CME 500 Seminars, which feature speakers from industry sharing insights into their career and cutting-edge topics in the area of computational mathematics and engineering. Additionally, students can submit a professional resume to the ICME Resume Book, which is distributed quarterly to organizations participating in the ICME Affiliate Program for internship and full-time opportunities.
Professional Development
The First Year MS Seminar (CME 299): ICME Graduate Student & Career Success Course equips first-year master’s students with tools for academic and professional achievement including resume writing, networking, and interview preparation. Student and alumni panels further provide valuable insights into navigating technical career paths, preparing for interviews, and transitioning to industry roles.
Additionally, students can also participate in the Xplore Program, which offers students an opportunity to work with an industry mentor and faculty advisor and get hands-on experience working in teams through real-world project-based research.
Career Resources
As part of Stanford University, ICME students also have access to a wide range of career resources to support their success:
