ICME invites the campus community to the HIVE Xperience, an open house opportunity to see Stanford’s immersive visualization environment in action. This event, happening just once per year, is a chance for you to view your own research on the HANA Immersive Visualization Environment (HIVE). So, feel free to bring your own images! 
 
The HIVE Xperience will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Huang Engineering Center, Suite B050 (basement level). You may drop by anytime between 11am-2pm.
 
COLLABORATIVE VISUALIZATION
This event will also feature research projects taking place in the HIVE.
*Times are tentative. There will be time for people to sample their own research.
 
11:00 - 11:30 Stace Maples,  Stanford Geospatial Center
See how the use of satellite imagery and humanitarian relief infrastructure on the HIVE's massive screen allows for the identification of the current locations of highly mobile nomadic pastoralists, and enables Stanford Medical School researcher, Hannah Binzen Wild, to collect the first baseline maternal health survey for the Nyangatom, of the South Omo River region in Ethiopia.

Learn about the HoloLens and how its use can impact your research.CAE Healthcare develops simulation-based technologies, curriculum and resources that improve clinical performance, advancing medical training and education.

Experience a Virtual Reality journey to the drilling rig. 
 
1:30 - 2:00 Casey Fleeter and Veronica Toro, Stanford Cardiovascular Biomechanics Computation Lab
The Stanford Division of Pediatric Cardiology and Department of Engineering have collaborated to exhibit the Stanford Virtual Heart at the HIVE. Developed by Lighthaus Inc., the Stanford Virtual Heart is an immersive and interactive virtual reality (VR) experience in congenital heart disease. Students and trainees can interact with individual hearts and teleport inside a heart with a congenital heart defect, while displaying the VR heart on the massive high fidelity HIVE screen. Drs. Alison Marsden and David Axelrod continue to collaborate as they bring the complete congenital heart disease experience to life at the HIVE. The Stanford Virtual Heart was developed with support from the Betty Irene Moore Children’s Heart Center at Stanford and Oculus VR.
